Jonathan Tuff Biography
 

Jonathan, an Elkhart native, has both lived and operated a successful Design business in the heart of Downtown Chicago since 1999. His career started at the young age of 10 when he designed his family homes in Elkhart and in Florida. This led to designing and coordinating model homes for the family owned business Tops Home Center/Tuff Properties, LLC. 

All his talent and  hard work paid off when his designs were  featured in a layout in Redbook Magazine. Jonathan’s interior and landscaping design clients have taken him all over Chicago, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida and even Las Vegas. If you shopped on Main Street in Elkhart in the 1990’s then you probably shopped at J.B. Brent & Co. Clothiers, the high end men’s and women’s clothing store he owned and operated. Family and a new business venture with his sister, Cynthia Tuff, have brought Jonathan back to Elkhart.

You can find Jonathan and his design business, “Jonathan Tuff Design Associates”, at the new “GARBER’S DECORATING & DESIGN”. Garber’s has been operating since 1935 at the same location, 224 South Main Street in historic downtown Elkhart. Jonathan and Cynthia took the wonderful reputation of Garber’s and the strong family name of Tuff and have made Garber’s bigger and better than before. Now it’s a place to shop for gifts, furniture, home accessories, and of course paint, flooring, window treatments and wallpaper; and all this since December of 2007.

If all this weren’t exciting enough, Jonathan  & Cynthia just opened “GARBER’S FLOORING & TILE” which is located at 2206 Toledo Road also in Elkhart. “I get to do what I love and have fun doing it!” Is more than a phrase, it also describes how Jonathan designs.  He always brings the client into the design process so that they feel  connected to their new makeover.    

When Jonathan isn’t working, which isn’t very often, he heads back to Chicago where he still keeps his home in the downtown neighborhood of Rivernorth. “My neighbors are very confused as to why I’m never home” As for traveling it’s either New York City or Las Vegas. To Jonathan the energy of these cities is relaxing.
